George Sutherland (athlete)
George Watt Sutherland (born May 7, 1903 in Edinburgh , † May 10, 1951 in Calgary ) was a Canadian hammer thrower .
At the British Empire Games he was fourth in the triple jump in Hamilton in 1930 . In 1934 in London he won silver in hammer throw, was seventh in discus throw and eighth in shot put . In 1938 in Sydney he won the hammer throw, won bronze in the discus throw and was again eighth in the shot put.
He was twice Canadian champion in hammer throw (1931, 1934) and once each in javelin throw (1931) and in decathlon (1932).
In 1958 he was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame .
