George Wilmot Bonner

George Wilmot Bonner (also: George Bonner and George William Bonnar * 24. May 1796 in Devizes , † 3. June 1836 in London ) was an English wood engraver , illustrator and artwork - artists .

Raised in the English city of Bath , George William Bonner trained as a wood cutter in London with Allen Robert Branston and James Henry Vizetelly . In addition to his development as a draftsman and engraver, he particularly succeeded in reviving the art of finely graduated tints for his prints by using different printing plates.

Among Bonner's students were William James Linton (1812-1897), William Henry Powis and Henry Vizetelly .
