George Young (rock musician)
George Redburn Young (born November 6, 1946 in Glasgow , Scotland - † October 22, 2017 ) was an Australian rock musician , guitarist, songwriter and producer. Young's younger brother was Malcolm and his younger brother Angus is a member of the rock band AC / DC . An older brother, Alexander Young , was a member of the band Grapefruit .
Life
In the early 1960s, the Young family emigrated from Scotland to Australia. In Sydney , George Young became a member of the most successful Australian band of the 1960s, The Easybeats . George Young wrote most of the group's songs , initially with Stevie Wright and later with Harry Vanda , including the world hit Friday on My Mind .
At the end of 1966 the Easybeats went to London. In 1969 the band broke up. Vanda and Young remained active as songwriters and producers, among others for (unrelated) John Paul Young (Love Is in the Air) , Def Leppard (High n 'Dry) and especially for AC / DC .
Vanda and Young formed the band project Flash and the Pan together , which had some hits. After 1986 the Easybeats appeared again as part of the revival boom.
