Alexander Young (musician)
Alexander Young (born December 29, 1938 in Bridgeton , Glasgow ; † August 4, 1997 in Hamburg ) was a Scottish singer and composer and music agent. He played guitar, bass guitar and the saxophone. He was the older brother of George Young and Malcolm and Angus Young ( AC / DC ).
Alexander Young was born in Bridgeton, Scotland . When his family emigrated to Australia, he stayed in the UK to pursue his musical ambitions. With his first band, Bobby Patrick Big Six, he also played in Germany for a short time. Some time later he joined the band Grapefruit . Terry Doran, one of the artist managers at the Beatles music publisher Apple , noticed him and got him a contract. Since John Lennon loved Young's songs, there was widespread support for grapefruit. The band released two record albums and several singles in 1968 and 1969.
Alexander Young wrote a song specifically for AC / DC that was recorded but never released. It was later released in a cover version by the German band Accept under the title I'm a Rebel . In his last years he worked in Germany as a music agent, a. a. for ProudandLoud Management Hamburg. Young died in 1997 of lung cancer in his private apartment after being released from a Hamburg hospital.
