I'm a Rebel ( Engl. : I am a rebel ) is the second studio album by the German heavy metal band Accept , recorded in 1979 and released in June 1980. It is the first of three consecutive albums that Dirk Steffens produced.

Emergence

The title track was written by "George Alexander", pseudonym of Alexander Young , the older brother of producer and musician George Young and AC / DC guitarists Angus Young and Malcolm Young . Bassist Peter Baltes sings two slower songs ( No Time to Lose and The King ). The recordings took place from October to December 1979 in the Delta Studio in Wilster . The band's first music video was shot for the theme song I'm a Rebel .

I'm a Rebel was also released in the United Kingdom and the United States. The international versions have a different cover that shows a sword with a lion on the hilt.

criticism

Ed Rivadavia from Allmusic sees the album as a clear further development compared to its predecessor Accept . For the first time, I'm a Rebel has the guitar sound typical of Accept and the characteristic vocals of Udo Dirkschneider, and the title song is the band's first classic. However, the production of the album still leaves something to be desired.
