Restless and Wild is the fourth album by the German heavy metal band Accept . It was published in October 1982 in Germany and in March 1983 in the USA and Great Britain (98th place).
history
It was the first Accept album that was not recorded in the Delta Studio, but in the Dierks Studios in Stommeln . It is also the first Accept album in which Udo Dirkschneider sings every song. Jan Koemmet joined the band shortly before the album was released, but was not yet involved in the recording. Although Wolf Hoffmann recorded the guitar alone for the album, Herman Frank was stated on the album cover.
The album is best known for the crackling folk song intro (“Heidi, heido, heida”, chorus from Ein Heller und ein Batzen ) for the title “Fast as a Shark”, which was one of the first speed metal songs becomes. The last song "Princess of the Dawn" ends abruptly. The end will be faded out on a later compilation.
The album was released outside of Germany with a different cover, a live image of the band. On January 25th, 2011 the album was premiered in its entirety at a special show in Switzerland .
reception
Hansi Daberger from Rock Hard magazine wrote in his review for the best list of the magazine's editors, in which Restless and Wild reached number 81, that the album had "almost completely turned the local metal world upside down". The record is said to be "one of the most ingenious records that Teutonic Metal has ever produced". He particularly praised the "razor-sharp riffs " and the powerful production.
The American death metal band Cannibal Corpse recorded a cover version of the track "Demon's Night", which appeared on their EP Worm Infested .
