Blood of the Nations is the twelfth studio album by the German heavy metal band Accept . It was released by Nuclear Blast in August 2010 . It is the band's first album since the breakup in 1996 and the first without singer Udo Dirkschneider since Eat the Heat in 1989.

Origin and style

Instead of Udo Dirkschneider, Mark Tornillo can now be heard singing, who previously sang at TT Quick . Dirkschneider, who had sung with the band at a few reunion shows, wished Accept luck. The band stated that the relationship with Dirkschneider was not the best because he did not want to tour. Through a friend in Nashville , the musicians' new home , Accept met Tornillo, who could sing the old pieces well. Only by getting to know Tornillo was the new beginning possible.

“Sometimes he reminds of Udo, but he doesn't sound like someone who copies Udo, but brings something with him that wasn't there before. In the second we spontaneously decided that we wanted to start over. "

- Wolf Hoffmann

Wolf Hoffmann stated that the band first wanted to produce the album themselves, but later changed their mind, so Andy Sneap , whom they had met through their friend and former webmaster Ed Aborn, took over the production .

reception

Götz Kühnemund wrote in Rock Hard that the record "sounds one hundred percent like Accept, one hundred percent meets expectations and one hundred percent hits the mark." That was not to be expected - even in view of the first demo recordings that were also criticized by him . He awarded nine out of ten points. The album was “album of the month” in the magazine. On the website Allmusic.com the sound of the album was described as "tough and heavy". Mark Tornillo is a worthy replacement for Dirkschneider. The rating was three and a half stars out of five.
