Georges-Louis Contesse

Georges-Louis Contesse (born August 8, 1832 in Romainmôtier ; † August 16, 1882 there , entitled to live in Romainmôtier) was a Swiss politician .

biography

Contesse studied law at the University of Lausanne and licensed in 1857. He then worked as a notary in Romainmôtier .

From 1860 to 1878 he was the mayor of his hometown and from 1861 to 1882 he was President of the District Court of Orbe . After the parliamentary elections in 1869 he was a national councilor for the canton of Vaud until 1882 and politicized according to free-thinking principles.

He was also a member of the board of directors of the Union vaudoise de crédit from 1870 to 1871 and of the Cantonal Bank of Vaud from 1877 to 1881 . From 1865 to 1866 he was a judge and from 1872 to 1876 first judge at the military court .

Contesse distinguished himself as a benefactor in that he gave Romainmôtier a hospital. The Infirmerie Contesse was finally opened in 1882 and managed by the foundation of the same name.
