Georges Jean Joseph Amanieu (born March 27, 1934 in Paris , † May 28, 2016 in L'Union , Haute-Garonne ) was a French football player .

Career

Amanieu began his career at Toulouse FC , where he was accepted into the first division team in 1956 at the age of 22. Even if he did not play a major role in the team and only booked four appearances, he was able to celebrate his greatest success in his first year as a professional when he and his team won the Coupe de France and thus the national cup competition. In the final, however, he was not on the pitch. After he had been loaned to the second division Red Star Paris in the second half of the 1957/58 season and had fought for a regular place there, Amanieu was also able to prevail at Toulouse. The player, who was struggling with physical problems, failed to secure his position in the first eleven permanently and as a result, turned his back on Toulouse in 1960.

In the league rivals FC Nancy he found a new employer who relied on him more regularly and made the leap to the cup final with the Amanieu in 1962 . Although he was, unlike before in Toulouse, used in the final, but he had to accept a 0-1 defeat of his team against AS Saint-Étienne . A year later he also suffered relegation to the second division with the club. Amanieu initially decided to remain loyal to his club, but left it when the second relegation in a row followed in 1964.

Instead, the professional returned to the top French league when he signed with FC Sochaux that same year . He also ran regularly for Sochaux, although the first year was marked by a lot of rotation. Because the people in charge mainly relied on young players in the second season, the 32-year-old Amanieu decided to move to the second division club FC Grenoble . There he became a regular player for the 1966/67 season, but missed promotion with the team, so he ended his professional career in 1967 after 182 first division games and five goals and 83 second division games and four goals. A year later he returned briefly to football for a commitment at the lower-class club SO Châtellerault . When he ended this in 1969, Amanieu completely disappeared from the sporting scene.
