L'Union ( Occitan : Sent Joan le Nòu ) is a French commune with 11,715 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Toulouse and the Canton of Toulouse-9 . The inhabitants are called Unionaises .
geography
At the southern tip of the municipality, the Sausse flows into the Hers-Mort . L'Union is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Geniès-Bellevue in the north, Saint-Jean in the northeast and east, Montrabé in the southeast, Balma in the south, Toulouse in the southwest and west and Launaguet in the northwest.
history
The municipality was created in 1790 from the localities of Belbèze and Cornaudric. At times the name of the municipality was Saint-Jean-de-l'Union until Saint-Jean was split off.
