Sylvia Pinel
Sylvia Pinel (born September 28, 1977 in L'Union , Haute-Garonne Department ) is a French politician of the Parti radical de gauche (PRG). From May 2012 to March 2014 she was Minister for Crafts, Trade and Tourism and from April 2014 to February 2016 Minister for Housing and Regional Development.
Life
After attending school, Sylvia Pinel studied fundamental rights and European law and graduated with a Diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA). She completed a subsequent postgraduate degree in litigation and arbitration with a Diplôme d'études supérieures spécialisées (DESS).
In 2007 she was elected to represent the Parti Radical de Gauche (PRG) as a member of the National Assembly for the Tarn-et-Garonne department and was re - elected in 2012. Her mandate is suspended due to her membership in the government. Between 2007 and 2012 she was Vice President of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Central Africa , Ethiopia , Kazakhstan and Malta and also Secretary of the Parliamentary Friendship Group in Benin , Spain and Greece .
Sylvia Pinel, also president of the PRG in Tarn-et-Garonne, is since 2010 a member of the Regional Council of the Region Midi-Pyrenees and since 2011 Vice President of the PRG. As such, it is responsible for civil rights, security and justice.
After the election of François Hollande as President and the appointment of Jean-Marc Ayrault as Prime Minister, she was appointed by him on May 17, 2012 as Assistant Minister for Crafts, Trade and Tourism in his cabinet and, as such, was the Minister of Industry, Arnaud Montebourg , assumed. In the course of the formation of a new cabinet after the parliamentary elections in 2012 , its function was upgraded to an independent ministry. When the Valls I government was formed, Pinel was appointed Minister of Housing and Regional Development on April 2, 2014. It kept this portfolio when the second Valls government was formed . In the course of a government reshuffle, she was dismissed as minister on February 11, 2016.
In 2017, she applied in the socialist primary, which is open to all left-wing parties, to run for the socialists in the presidential election . She received two percent of the vote in the first ballot, with more than half of the votes on St. Pierre et Miquelon . In the second ballot, she called for the election of the ultimately unsuccessful Manuel Valls .
