Emmanuelle Cosse (born November 15, 1974 in Paris ) is a French politician (until 2016 Europe Écologie-Les Verts ). From November 2013 to February 2016 she was Secretary General of the party, and since February 2016 she has been Minister for Housing and Sustainable Housing in the Valls II and Cazeneuve governments . Before that she was active at Act Up-Paris and worked as a journalist.

Life

Emmanuelle Cosse grew up in a politically active family in the 12th arrondissement of Paris . Political career

She was elected in the French regional elections in the Île-de-France region in 2010 and was subsequently appointed Vice-President of the Conseil régional . On November 30, 2013, Emmanuelle Cosse was elected Secretary General of Europe Écologie-Les Verts with 55% of the vote .

On February 11, 2016, as part of a cabinet reshuffle, President François Hollande appointed Cosse as Minister for Housing and Sustainable Housing in the Valls II government. She accepted this appeal against the opinion of her own party, from which she received severe criticism. When she entered the government, she also lost her position as General Secretary of the EELV. On February 21, 2016, the EELV split openly from Emmanuelle Cosse. In addition to her ministerial post, Cosse retained her mandate in the regional council of the Île-de-France region. Emmanuelle Cosse is the partner of Denis Baupin , who was also a member of Europe Écologie-Les Verts and Vice-President of the French National Assembly . On May 9, 2016, Baupin resigned from his post after several EELV politicians accused him of sexual harassment.
