Launac is a French commune with 1,382 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Toulouse and the Canton of Léguevin (until 2015: Canton Grenade ). The inhabitants are called Launacais .
geography
Launac is about 26 kilometers northwest of Toulouse . Launac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Burgaud and Saint-Cézert in the north, Grenade in the northeast, Larra in the east and southeast, Thil in the south, Pelleport in the west and Drudas in the west and northwest.
history
In 1362 it came here - during the Hundred Years War - to the fight for Launac between Gaston III. of Foix and Count Jean II. d'Armagnac , the Gaston III. could decide for himself. By capturing the leaders of the Armagnac, Gaston III managed to obtain substantial ransom sums.
