Castanet-Tolosan is a municipality with 13,529 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the south of France , in the region of Midi-Pyrénées and in the department of Haute-Garonne . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Toulouse and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Castanet-Tolosan . The inhabitants are called Castanéennes .

geography

The municipality is located about twelve kilometers southeast of Toulouse on the Canal du Midi and the former Route nationale 113 (today: Department road 813) from Toulouse to Carcassonne . Castanet-Tolosan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Auzeville-Tolosane in the north, Labège in the northeast, Escalquens in the east, Pompertuzat in the south and southwest, Péchabou in the south, Rebigue in the southwest and Mervilla in the west.
