Escalquens is a French commune with 6,660 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Toulouse and the canton of Escalquens . The inhabitants are called Escalquinois (es) .
geography
Escalquens is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Toulouse in the Lauragais . The Hers-Mort river forms the western boundary of the municipality. Escalquens is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Orens-de-Gameville in the north, Auzielle in the northeast, Odars in the east, Belberaud in the south and southeast, Pompertuzat in the southwest, Castanet-Tolosan in the west and Labège in the northwest.
The Via Tolosana , one of the four historical " Paths of the St. James pilgrims in France " , runs through the village .
