La Salvetat-Saint-Gilles is a French commune with 8,321 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region in south-western France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Toulouse and is part of the canton of Léguevin . The inhabitants are called Salvetains .
geography
La Salvetat-Saint-Gilles is located in the greater Toulouse area on the Aussonnelle River , about fifteen kilometers west-southwest of the city.
La Salvetat-Saint-Gilles is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Léguevin in the north and west, Plaisance-du-Touch in the west and south and Fontenilles in the south-west.
