Bruguières ( Occitan Bruguièras ) is a French commune with 5832 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Toulouse and the Canton of Castelginest (previously Fronton ). The inhabitants are called Bruguiérois (es) .
geography
Bruguières is located about 15 kilometers northwest of Toulouse on the Hers-Mort river and extends over an area of 9.03 km² at heights between 116 and 175 meters above sea level. Bruguières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Sauveur in the north, Cépet in the east and northeast, Gratentour in the southeast, Castelginest and Saint-Alban in the south, Fenouillet in the southwest, Lespinasse in the west and Saint-Jory in the northwest.
The A62 autoroute runs through the municipality .
history
During the construction of Autoroute 62 in 1979, two sarcophagi from the Merovingian era were discovered.
