Villeneuve-Tolosane ( Occitan Vilanava Tolosana ) is a French commune with 9720 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department and the Occitania region . The residents are called Villeneuvois, Villeneuvoises .

Villeneuve-Tolosane is located on the Canal de Saint-Martory irrigation canal , in the south-west of Toulouse .

Due to the proximity to Toulouse, the population rose from 976 (1962) to today's number.

The area has been inhabited since the Neolithic (New Stone Age); the remains of a village on an area of ​​up to 30 hectares have been excavated. This village was surrounded by palisades , ramparts and moats.
