Castle of Merville

Merville ( Occitan : Mervila ) is a French commune with 5615 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region . Merville is part of the arrondissement of Toulouse and the canton of Léguevin . The inhabitants are called Mervillois .

location

Merville is bounded in the east by the Garonne and in the northwest by the Save and is located about 21 kilometers northwest of Toulouse . Merville is surrounded by the neighboring communities Grenade in the north and northeast, Saint-Jory in the east and northeast, Gagnac-sur-Garonne and Seilh in the southeast, Aussonne in the south, Daux in the southwest, Montaigut-sur-Save in the west and Larra in the northwest.

history

The early days of the community are linked to the Notre-Dame-de-la-Capelle Abbey, which was founded in 1143 and completely razed by Gabriel de Lorges in 1570 .
