The canton of Castanet-Tolosan is a French canton in the arrondissement of Toulouse in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region ; its main town is Castanet-Tolosan . His representative in the General Council of the Département was Louis Bardou ( PS ) from 2004 to 2010 . He was followed by Muriel Pruvot (also PS).
geography
The canton is located in the eastern half of the Haute-Garonne department south of the city of Toulouse. In the west it borders on the canton of Portet-sur-Garonne , in the north on the cantons Toulouse-3 , Toulouse-5 , Toulouse-8 and Toulouse-9 , in the east on the canton Lanta and in the south on the cantons Montgiscard and Auterive . Its area is between 141 m in the communes of Labège and Vieille-Toulouse and 282 m in the communes of Aureville and Clermont-le-Fort above sea level .
The canton consists of 15 municipalities with a total of 45,377 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 92.48 km 2 :
