The canton of Rieux-Volvestre was a French canton in the Arrondissement Muret , in the Haute-Garonne department and in the Midi-Pyrénées region until 2015 ; its main town was Rieux-Volvestre . His representative in the Conseil Régional for the years 2004 to 2010 was Adolphe Ruquet.
geography
The canton was in the center of the Haute-Garonne department. In the west it bordered the canton of Cazères , in the north-west on the canton Le Fousseret , in the north-east on the canton Carbonne , in the east on the Aude department and in the south-east and south on the canton Montesquieu-Volvestre . Its area was between 195 m in Rieux-Volvestre and 380 m in Gensac-sur-Garonne above sea level .

history
The canton was called Canton Rieux from 1793 to June 22, 2009. When his main town was renamed, he was also given the name Rieux-Volvestre.
