Jacques Gilard

Jacques Gilard (born March 8, 1943 in Launac , † 2008 ) was a French Latin American .

Gilard specialized in Caribbean literature, especially the work of Gabriel García Márquez . He was a professor at the University of Toulouse , director of the local Institute Pluridisciplinaire pour les Études sur les Amériques (IPEALT) and the magazines Caravelle and Ordinaire Latino-américain . In his last years he worked on the editing of Colombian authors such as Álvaro Cepeda Samudio and Marvel Moreno , about whose work he organized congresses. He also looked at popular culture and oral traditions in Hispanic America and how it relates to Spanish romance .
