Georgi Alexandrowitsch Wainer
Georgi Alexandrowitsch Wainer ( Russian Георгий Александрович Вайнер , scientific transliteration Georgij Aleksandrovič Vajner ; born February 10, 1938 in Moscow ; † June 12, 2009 in New York City ) was a Russian writer who, together with his brother Arkadi (1931–2005) many in Russia, also in the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries, wrote successful detective novels . He has authored over 150 books and screenplays for more than 20 feature films. The five-part television series The Predefined Meeting ( Место встречи изменить нельзя , 1979) by Stanislaw Goworuchin , based on the crime novel The Wainers' black cat, gained cult status.
Before his writing success, Wainer worked as a lawyer, journalist and TASS correspondent.
