Georgi Brankov

Georgi Jordanow Brankow ( Bulgarian Георги Йорданов Бранков ; born January 24, 1913 in Mesdra , † October 2, 1997 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian engineer.

Life

Brankov studied in Sofia and Dresden Building . In 1962 he became a professor at the Sofia Civil Engineering College . In 1972 took over the function of director of the Institute for Mechanics and Biomechanics. A year later he became Vice President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences . In the same year he also became director of the Rome- based International Association for Earthquake-Resistant Construction .

In his scientific work he dealt with the theory of shell structures , the industrialization of construction and the mechanics of polymers .
