Georgi Eduardowitsch Konjus
Georgi Conus ( Russian Георгий Эдуардович Конюс * 18 . Jul / 30th September 1862 greg. In Moscow ; † 28. August 1933 ) was a Russian music theorist and composer .
Konjus was of French descent and was actually called "Georges Conus". He did not become a Russian citizen until 1904. Konjus was a student of Sergei Taneyev and Anton Arensky . He taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1891 to 1896 , from 1902 to 1912 at the Music School of the Moscow Philharmonic Society, until 1920 at the Saratov Conservatory and then again at the Moscow Conservatory. He composed a ballet , a cantata , a wind serenade and other orchestral works, piano pieces and songs .
Georgi Konjus developed and taught the metrotectonic method as a method for determining the time proportions of musical works of art. His student Alexander Scriabin used this method in his works.
His father Eduard Konjus was a piano teacher, his brother Juli Konjus a violin virtuoso , his brother Lew Konjus a pianist .
