Georgi Petrosian
Georgi Mikajeli Petrosjan ( Armenian Գեորգի Միքայելի Պետրոսյան ; born January 10, 1953 in Stepanakert , Soviet Union ) is an Armenian politician from the internationally unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic .
Georgi Petrosyan did his military service in the Red Army from 1971 to 1973 . He then graduated from the Minsk Institute for Radio Technology, which he graduated in 1978. From 1980 to 1990 he worked in the capacitor factory in his hometown Stepanakert - most recently as a senior engineer. Since 1988 he has been active in the Karabakh citizens' movement, which campaigned for the separation of Nagorno-Karabakh from the Azerbaijani SSR and (later) from the Republic of Azerbaijan . From 1990 to 1995 Petrosyan was a member of the Supreme Council of Armenia , and from 1992 to 1995 of the Supreme Council of the Karabakh Republic. From January to April of that year he was Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, from April 1992 to June 1993 acting Chairman. He has been Foreign Minister since 2005.
