Georgi Maximowitsch Adelson-Welski
Georgi Maximowitsch Adelson-Welski ( Russian Георгий Максимович Адельсон-Вельский ; other common transcriptions Adelson-Velsky and Adelson-Velski ; born January 8, 1922 in Samara ; † April 26, 2014 in Israel ) was a Soviet mathematician and computer scientist. Together with Yevgeny Michailowitsch Landis , he developed the data structure of the AVL tree in computer science in 1962 . He last lived in Ashdod, Israel .
