Gerald Gansterer (born October 29, 1982 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a defender . Most recently he played at Kapfenberger SV in the Austrian Bundesliga .

Career

Gansterer began his football career in the youth of ASK Ternitz in Lower Austria . As a youth player he then came to SK Rapid Vienna . He changed fronts in Vienna as a youth player and went to FK Austria Wien a little later . After a few years in youth, he was accepted into the amateur squad in 2004 and already played 26 games in the first division in the 2005/06 season . In 2006 he moved within the second division to LASK Linz , where he was promoted to the Bundesliga as a regular in 2007 .

The defender made his debut in Austria's top division on July 10, 2007 in the first round match between SK Austria Kärnten and LASK, which ended 1-0. Gansterer played through in the back four. In August he injured his adductors , which is why he was out for most of the fall season.

After he was without a club for the summer break before the 2009/10 season , he moved to league competitor, Kapfenberger SV , at the end of August 2009 . Gansterer has been without a club again since summer 2010.

In the winter of 2011/12 he signed with UFC Eferding, which plays in the Upper Austria League.
