Gerardo Humberto Flores Reyes
Gerardo Humberto Flores Reyes (born December 9, 1925 in Quetzaltenango ) is a Guatemalan clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Verapaz, Cobán .
Life
Bishop Jorge García Cabalieros consecrated him on December 17, 1949 as a priest of the diocese of Quetzaltenango, Los Altos .
Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 26, 1966 auxiliary bishop in Quetzaltenango, Los Altos and titular bishop of Nova Caesaris . The bishop of Quetzaltenango, Los Altos, Luis Manresa Formosa SJ , ordained him episcopal on October 7th of the same year . Co-consecrators were Humberto Lara Mejía CM , Auxiliary Bishop in Verapaz, Coban , and Rafael González Estrada , Auxiliary Bishop in Guatemala City .
On May 9, 1969 he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the newly established Apostolic Administratur Izabal . He was appointed Bishop of Verapaz, Cobán on October 7, 1977, and took office on December 17 of the same year. On February 22, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
