Gerardo Vera
Gerardo Vera Perales (born March 10, 1947 in Miraflores de la Sierra ) is a Spanish costume designer , production designer , actor , film and theater director .
Live and act
Gerardo Vera has degrees in English (Complutense University), literature and theater in Madrid and Exeter and trained as a scene and costume designer at the Central School of Arts in London .
Vera was initially successful as a theater director and was awarded the National Theater Prize in 1988 for his services to the development of theater and opera. His attempts to use the actors' bodies as elements of the stage design are particularly important. Vera has been director of the Spanish Centro Dramático Nacional since 2004 .
In 1990 Vera directed his first television film La otra historia de Rosendo Juárez with Antonio Banderas . His greatest success as a director was the film Segundapiel (1999) with Javier Bardem , which won the Glitter Award for best contribution at the International Gay Film Festival.
Vera is a two-time Goya Award winner for best costume design (El amor brujo, 1986) and best production design (La niña de tus ojos, 1998).
