Gerd Deutschmann (soccer player)

Gerd Deutschmann (born November 30, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player who acted as a midfielder and defender . For SpVgg Erkenschwick he completed a total of 42 games (one goal) in the 2nd Bundesliga North from 1974 to 1976.

Career

Gerd Deutschmann played in the youth department of SpVgg Erkenschwick and was integrated into the first men's team for the 1968/69 season together with other young homegrown men such as Peter Anders and Dieter Walter . The club reached the second place in the table behind the DJK Gütersloh in the then Association League Westphalia and thus took part in the German amateur championship , where they reached the final, but lost to SC Jülich 1: 2. In addition, the SpVgg. as the association league runner-up in 1969, celebrating promotion to the Regionalliga West. There was an additional qualifying game against SSV Hagen , which Spvgg. Erkenschwick won 2-1 after extra time in front of 20,000 spectators at the Rote Erde stadium in Dortmund.

In the following years Deutschmann played with the Erkenschwicker team around Hugo Lütkebohmert and Horst Koschmieder in the Regionalliga West, the best placement here was a sixth place in the 1971/72 season. After the restructuring of the DFB leagues, he qualified with his club for the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga in 1974 . For SpVgg Erkenschwick he made his second division debut on August 24, 1974 (4th matchday) in the 1974/75 season in the 1: 3 defeat against Bayer 05 Uerdingen . In total, he was used 23 times and scored one goal. At the end of the season, Erkenschwick took 16th place in the final table. In the following 1975/76 season he came on another 19 missions, but had to accept relegation from the second Bundesliga with SpVgg Erkenschwick.
