Dieter Walter (soccer player)
Dieter Walter (born July 25, 1948 ) is a former German soccer player . The striker on right winger was active his entire career for SpVgg Erkenschwick and played 145 games (33 goals) in the Regionalliga West from 1969 to 1974 and a total of 72 games (ten goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga North from 1974 to 1976 .
career
Dieter Walter played in the youth department of SpVgg Erkenschwick and was integrated into the first men's team for the 1968/69 season with other young homegrown players such as Peter Anders and Gerd Deutschmann . The club reached the second place in the table behind the DJK Gütersloh in the then Association League Westphalia and thus took part in the German amateur championship , where they reached the final, but lost to SC Jülich 1: 2. In addition, Dieter Walter was able to celebrate promotion to the Regionalliga West with the game association as the club's runner-up in 1969. There was an additional qualification game against SSV Hagen , which SpVgg. Erkenschwick won 2-1 after extra time in front of 22,000 spectators at the Rote Erde stadium in Dortmund, Walter scored a goal.
In the following years Dieter Walter played with the Erkenschwicker team around Hugo Lütkebohmert and Horst Koschmieder in the Regionalliga West, the best placement here was a sixth place in the 1971/72 season. After the restructuring of the DFB leagues, he qualified with his club for the newly founded 2nd Bundesliga in 1974. By then, Dieter Walter had played 145 regional league games and scored 33 goals. For SpVgg Erkenschwick he made his second division debut on August 3, 1974 (1st matchday) in the 1974/75 season in a 2-1 away win at Olympia Wilhelmshaven . In total he was used 37 times and scored three goals. At the end of the season, Erkenschwick took 16th place in the final table. In the following 1975/76 season he came on another 35 missions and seven goals, but had to accept relegation from the second Bundesliga with SpVgg Erkenschwick.
While other top performers left the club after relegation, Dieter Walter remained loyal to the Stimberg Stadium and from then on played with the Schwickern in the Association League Westphalia. After fifth place in 1977, he achieved with SpVgg. Erkenschwick 1978 the runner-up, whereby the club qualified again for the German amateur championship. After a first round win over FV Biberach, they lost to ESV Ingolstadt in the quarterfinals . From the 1978/79 season Walter played with Erkenschwick in the newly created Oberliga Westfalen , where, after third place in the premiere year, they were three points ahead of 1. FC Paderborn champions in the 1979/80 season . The team around the experienced Dieter Walter, Uwe Eplinius and striker Gisbert Paus won the decisive games against 1. FC Paderborn (2: 1 in front of 7,000 spectators) and victories at Sportfreunde (2: 1 in front of 8,000 spectators). In addition to being promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga, Walter took part in the German amateur championship for the third time with the game association , but again the quarter-finals were over after two defeats against the North Rhine-Westphalian champions 1. The right winger ended his career at SpVgg in 1980 when he was promoted to the second Bundesliga. and became player-coach at Grün-Weiß Erkenschwick .
