Gerd Dose

Gerd Dose (born October 9, 1942 in Halstenbek ; † July 16, 2010 in Großensee (Holstein) ) was a German Anglicist.

Life

Gerd Dose studied English, Romance studies, philosophy and education at the University of Hamburg. He was then a research assistant to Professor Ludwig Borinski , a student of LL Schücking , and from 1985 to 2007 Professor of English at the University of Hamburg .

His main areas of work were the exploration of the Middle Ages, the development of British humor and humorous English literature , the reception of war and the military in English literature, and Australian studies. He was significantly involved in the re-establishment of general lectures at the University of Hamburg .
