Johann N. Schmidt
Johann N. Schmidt (* 1945 in Munich ) is a German Anglist .
Life
Johann N. Schmidt studied English , Romance and German in Munich and Swansea . He was a lecturer at Southampton University and visiting professor at Bielefeld University . From 1984 to 2010 he was a full professor for English philology at the University of Hamburg . His research ranges from the satire of the early 18th century (dissertation) and the English novel from the 18th to the 20th century as well as the melodrama of the 19th century (habilitation) to architecture in the USA and contributions in the field of film ( Hitchcock , Kubrick , Losey , Resnais ) and comics ( Tardi ). In addition to numerous articles in specialist journals, he has published monographs and edited volumes. In addition to numerous publications in anthologies and the publication of specialist articles, Johann N. Schmidt has edited and written numerous books.
He lives with his wife in Bad Oldesloe in Schleswig-Holstein .
