Gerd Glaeske

Gerd Glaeske (born May 13, 1945 in Stecklenberg ) is a German pharmacist and health scientist .

Glaeske studied pharmacy at the RWTH Aachen and the University of Hamburg . In 1978 he received his doctorate in Hamburg with a dissertation on the synthesis of tetrahydrothiazine derivatives. From 1988 to 1999 he worked for various health insurance companies as well as the Association of Employee Health Insurance Funds (VdAK) in the areas of pharmacological advisory services and fundamental issues. Since 1999 he has held a professorship for drug supply research at the University of Bremen .

Until 2015 he published the drug report of the Barmer Ersatzkasse annually. Glaeske has worked for the reference work Bitter Pills for years . In 2009 he was responsible for the scientific assessment of the drugs and advice on the text. He was the final reviewer of the Drugs Handbook from Stiftung Warentest . From 2003 to 2010 Glaeske was a member of the Advisory Council for the assessment of developments in the health sector . Glaeske has become known to a broad public through interviews and statements on health issues and, in particular, on pharmaceuticals issues on television, radio and print media. Since 2017 Glaeske has been the scientific director of the “Live better for longer.” Institute. This institute, which deals with the topics of prevention and health promotion, is sponsored by the University of Bremen and the health insurance company BKK24 .
