Gerd Kohlhepp

Gerd Kohlhepp (born March 21, 1940 in Mannheim ) is a German economic geographer and Brazilian researcher.

Live and act

Gerd Kohlhepp studied geography, geology, economics, history and prehistory at the University of Heidelberg from 1958 to 1962 and obtained his MA from 1964 to 1966, he was a research assistant, in 1967 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . From 1967 to 1972 he worked as a research assistant and received his habilitation in 1972 . From 1972 to 1978 he was Professor of Cultural Geography at the University of Frankfurt am Main and then Professor of Economic and Social Geography at the University of Tübingen . In 2005 he retired .

His main research interests were economic and social geography and geographic development research , especially in Latin America and especially in Brazil .

Kohlhepp was editor or co-editor of several journals such as "Geographical Knowledge", "Tübingen Contributions to Geographical Latin America Research", "Geographical Journal", "Research on Latin America", "Applied Geography and Development", "Tübinger Geographical Studies" and "Diálogo Científico" .
