Gerd Müller (born October 1, 1940 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ; † January 23, 2003 ) was a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and high school with the Abitur , he studied at the universities of Bonn and Cologne . In 1966 he graduated with a degree in business administration . He then worked in data processing and the power plant industry.

Müller became a member of the SPD in 1961. He was represented in various bodies of the party, e.g. B. as sub-district chairman. He was also a member of the IG Metall trade union from 1969 . From 1969 to 1980 Müller was a member of the city council of Mülheim and from 1974 to 1980 first mayor.

From May 29, 1980 to May 30, 1990, Müller was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in each constituency 074 Mülheim II. He was a member of the Mülheim City Council from 1969 to 1980. In addition, from 1975 to 1980 he was a member of the district planning council of the district president Düsseldorf .

Others

The house in which the Mülheim subdistrict of the SPD is located was renamed the Gerd Müller House.
