Gerd Radde

Gerd Radde (born January 6, 1924 in Nielep ( Pomerania ), † March 29, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German educator and educational historian .

Life

In 1946, Radde was part of the first year of study at the newly founded University of Education in Greater Berlin, headed by Wilhelm Blume .

After studying to be a teacher, he first worked as a teacher in Berlin-Neukölln (Britz) until he went to Wilhelm Richter at the Pedagogical University of Berlin in 1962, where he did a second degree from 1958. He later moved to the West Berlin school administration, where he was most recently a senior high school councilor at the State Scientific Examination Office.

Radde made a name for himself above all as the biographer of the Berlin school reformer Fritz Karsen , whose life and work had largely been forgotten after the war. It is thanks to Radde that he rediscovered the work of the reform pedagogue and researched it scientifically with his dissertation in 1973.
