Gerd Wendt (born November 6, 1945 ) is a former German badminton player .

Career

In his birthplace Tröbitz he learned the badminton game in the BSG activist Tröbitz. For this club he also fought for all of his sporting successes. He earned his first laurels at the FDJ Cup in 1963, where he was victorious with the team of the company sports association. In the same year he also won bronze at the GDR youth team championships and even gold the following year. It was only at the age of 30 that he achieved his greatest sporting success, where he again took fourth place in the top division of the GDR with the team from Tröbitz, now known as BSG Progress. Until the mid-1980s Wendt was one of the top players in the Cottbus district, but he could no longer build on the successes of the 1970s.

Gerd Wendt still lives in Tröbitz today.
