Gerda Wagener

Gerda Wagener (* 1953 ; † 1998 ) was a German author of children's and youth literature whose works have been translated into numerous other languages.

Life

She had studied social pedagogy and German language and literature in Essen . Subsequently, she worked in adult education from 1977 and was deputy director of a Catholic family education center .

In the mid- 1980s Gerda Wagener published articles in educational journals and began her writing career as an author of children's and youth literature. Her first big success was the children's book Typisch Mama in 1987 .

Her books have been translated into numerous other languages ​​such as Finnish , Swedish , Dutch , French , Slovenian and Italian .

Gerda Wagener lived in Wuppertal and died in a traffic accident in June 1998 while on a reading tour.
