Gereon Schürmann

Gereon Schürmann (born August 10, 1957 ) is a German entrepreneur in the field of renewable energies and a former rower and politician ( ÖDP ).

biography

Schürmann studied Catholic theology, philosophy and sports. He is married and has three children.

In 1979 he joined the Greens , which he soon left because of differences in content and the "style of debate" which he criticized. In 1988 he joined the ödp. In the period that followed, he held various offices there: Among other things, he was deputy district chairman and district and state chairman, member of the Federal Program Commission and, from November 1996, a member of the federal board.

Schürmann was also a successful rower: In 1975 in Montreal ( Canada ) he was junior runner-up in the eighth world championship , competed in international competitions and also participated in the World Cup as a coach. He is currently training the extremely successful youth rowing group of the Bonn Rowing Society.

Together with Michael Häußer, he founded Luftstrom Energiegesellschaft mbH in 2000 for the construction and operation of wind farms and photovoltaic systems . The company based in Mühlheim am Main is now the operator of four wind farms in Vogelsberg , Spessart and Eifel . Further wind farms are being planned. The Fleschenbach-Neustall wind farm, inaugurated in 2009, was the most powerful of any single operator in the state of Hesse at the time .
