Gerhard Anborn (* 1933 in Hamburg ) is a German painter .

Life

In 1953 he passed his Abitur at the Christianeum in Hamburg. His artistic work was shaped by his training at the guest lecturer class at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts from 1953 to 1956. His teachers included Karl Kaschak , Ernst Wilhelm Nay , Conrad Westpfahl , Hans Thiemann , Gerhard Fietz , Rolf Cavael , Joseph Fassbender and Hann Trier .

Between 1955 and 1959 he gained many new impressions during the French scholarship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the development of his unmistakable style began. In 1958 he was awarded a scholarship from the Kulturkreis in the Federal Association of German Industry . In 1959 he received the Bremen Art Prize Boettcherstraße and in 1960 the scholarship of the Lichtwark Prize . In addition to numerous exhibitions, works by Gerhard Anborn have been accepted in well-known museums and private collections.

In 1963 he married his fellow student, the painter Hannelore Borchers . In the same year, both were co-founders of the “Neue Gruppe Hamburg”, an association of around 22 younger artists.

Gerhard Vorteil varies the subject of nature and art in his own unique way. His knowledge of the history of painting, combined with the many inner images that he has collected on his numerous travels, result in surprising, new compositions time and again. His sovereign painting technique enables him to boldly combine abstract elements with sophisticated paraphrases of well-known works from art history. Its colors are balanced and harmoniously matched according to a clear concept for each picture.

Landscapes, ancient sites and modern cities shape the subject of Gerhard Vorteil's pictures. At the same time, non-objective, abstract compositions are created. The artist Gerhard Vorteil has dealt intensively with abstract painting , but soon he broke away from the purist positions of the 50s. From this a unique, unmistakable style developed, which the painter continuously refined and developed to this day.

The work includes oil paintings , watercolors , gouaches and also color woodcuts .

The pictures are inspired by impressions that the artist had during his numerous trips to many countries around the world. The pictures are not created on site, but always afterwards in his Hamburg studio. They do not want to be an exact copy of reality, but in the memory what is seen is reduced to the essentials and connected with one's own ideas, sensations and experiences.

Watercolors

In his watercolors , Gerhard Börorn succeeds in capturing the moods of the landscapes with delicate hints, sometimes with strong colors. In the ancient landscape of ruins, the viewer seems to feel the spirit of times long past and to be able to find himself directly in the sublime landscapes.

Pictures in oil

The oil paintings, on the other hand, are different, with intense colors and a clear division of space using geometric and polygonal structures. An essential characteristic and one of the trademarks of Gerhard Ausbrorn is the use of images in the picture, which show individual aspects, further views, other realities in a mutually complementary manner. The small pictures never lose the connection to the surrounding picture space due to content, compositional or formal elements. Ancient sites, buildings and landscapes interact in a charming and enigmatic manner.
