Career

Bold came to the second division Karlsruher SC in 1978 , immediately fought for a regular place under coach Manfred Krafft and played 75 of the 76 season games in two seasons, in which he scored 19 goals. With the KSC, he rose to the Bundesliga in 1980 . There he was used in the defensive midfield, which was not detrimental to the scoring danger of the headball strong blonde: in 97 Bundesliga games between 1980 and 1983 he scored 27 goals. In the 1981/82 season, Bold moved into the field of vision of the German national team under Jupp Derwall , but did not come to the hoped-for use.

In his last season for KSC, he fell out with the club's management team, who then dismissed him for behavior that was damaging to the club. In contrast, he successfully defended himself before the labor court, but moved to FC Zurich after the end of the season . In 1984 he returned to the Bundesliga for another two years, where he made 25 appearances (2 goals) for 1. FC Kaiserslautern . At that time, the 1. FCK coach was Manfred Krafft, whom he knew from his time at KSC.

After his active football career, Gerd Bold first worked in the presidium of the FCK, in 1992 he started his own business as a sports physiotherapist. He lives in Otterberg near Kaiserslautern.
