Gerhard Broekel

Gerhard Brökel (born January 22, 1931 ; † February 21, 2014 ) was a German rector, local researcher , city historian and non-fiction author .

Life

Together with his parents and his younger brother Heinrich, he grew up in Würgassen (Beverungen), near the border triangle of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. He was married and had several children. From 1959 to 1992 Brökel was the headmaster of the Gudenhagen elementary school , after which he worked as the principal of the Ratmerstein elementary school in Brilon . From 1970 to 1975 he was a member of the CDU council group in the city ​​council of Brilon. As a proven expert on the Brilon City Archives, he researched the history of the city and the surrounding villages. He also conducted research in the diocesan archive in Paderborn and in the archives in Münster. Numerous results of his research were published as essays in the home books of the Brilon Heimatbund Semper Idem , as well as in the yearbooks of the Hochsauerlandkreis. He wrote a number of books and brochures, including on the pharmacy in Brilon, the St. Hubertus-Schützenbruderschaft Brilon and the Maria Hilf hospital in Brilon. His fundamental writings also include research results on the municipal constitution of the city of Brilon and on Brilon's economic citizens from the 17th to 19th centuries. Brökel was a board member of the Briloner Heimatbund Semper Idem .
