Gerhard Brunner (born May 8, 1950 in Bad Tölz ) is a former German ice hockey player and coach . From 2002 to 2004 he also worked as a sports manager for the Kölner Haie .

Brunner began his sporting activity in ice hockey in his hometown at EC Bad Tölz in 1970. Further stations as a player were the Berlin FC Preussen , the EHC 70 Munich and the SG Nürnberg , until he was no longer active in ice hockey in 1976 due to an injury could be.

Career as a trainer and manager

Gerhard Brunner initially trained numerous junior teams since 1982, including those of his hometown, the EC Bad Tölz, and the Düsseldorfer EG . Brunner achieved the German championship title with both teams (1984 with Bad Tölz and 1994 with DEG).

As a professional coach, Brunner was active at EHC Klostersee in the 2nd Bundesliga from 1989 to 1991 until he moved to TSV Peißenberg in the following season , but was relegated to the top division with the club in the same season in 1991/92 .

Brunner made his debut in the German Ice Hockey League with the Kassel Huskies in the 1996/97 season . In the same year he won the German runner-up with the Huskies and was then voted “ Trainer of the Year ”. For the 1998/99 season he then moved to the Starbulls Rosenheim , with whom he could not qualify for the play-offs in his two seasons as a coach. When the Starbulls then sold the DEL license to the Iserlohn Roosters , Brunner moved back to DEG in Düsseldorf and trained the club's professional team, which had returned to the DEL in 2000. During the 2001/02 season, DEG parted ways with Brunner.

In 2002 he was then hired by the Kölner Haien as a sports manager. On April 30, 2004, however, Brunner announced that he no longer wanted to extend his contract as a manager in Cologne, thus ending his career as both a coach and manager at a professional club.

On October 20, 2008 he was introduced as the new coach of SC Riessersee , he took over the office of Kim Collins. This season , Gerhard Brunner reached the play-off quarter-finals with SC Riessersee.
