Gerhard Hahn (Germanist)

Gerhard Hahn (born December 22, 1933 in Asch , ČSR ) is a German Germanic Medievalist . He is emeritus professor for older German literature at the University of Regensburg .

Life and work

As a Fellow of studienstiftung Gerhard Hahn studied at the University of Munich German, English, history, philosophy and theology. In 1959 he passed the first state examination and took on an assistantship, followed by his doctorate in 1961 (summa cum laude). The topic of his dissertation is The Unity of the Plowman from Bohemia . Studies on Composition (printed 1963). In 1967 he completed his habilitation at the University of Munich with his writing Gospel as a literary instruction. On Luther's position in the history of the German church song (printed 1981). In 1972 he took over a visiting professorship at the University of Salzburg . In 1973 he was appointed to the University of Regensburg, where he was professor for older German literature until his retirement in 1999. His research focuses on: the literature of the late Middle Ages and the early modern period , the literature of the Reformation (especially by Martin Luther), sacred and ecclesiastical song from the beginning to the present day, minnesong and poetry (especially Walther von der Vogelweide ).
