Gerhard Heid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gerhard Heid (* around 1936 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ; † March 19, 1972 in Hamburg ) was a German football coach and manager.

Heid was a youth coach at TuS Altrip until 1970 , after which he was a “talent scout” at Hamburger SV . In the two years until his early death at the age of 36, caused by a heart attack, Heid brought a number of later very successful young players to HSV, including Manfred Kaltz , whom he had brought with him from TuS Altrip to HSV in 1970, Rudi Kargus , Caspar Memering and Peter Hidien . In doing so, he laid the foundation for the club's success in the 1970s and 1980s, as was later recognized by the club's chairmen, Peter Krohn and Barrelet.
