Gerhard Henke-Bockschatz

Gerhard Henke-Bockschatz (* 1954 in Bielefeld ) is a German history teacher and was professor at the University of Frankfurt am Main from 2001 to 2019 .

Henke-Bockschatz studied German and history for the high school teaching post in Heidelberg and Hamburg and worked as a teacher at several schools in Hamburg. His doctorate in Modern History took place in 1990 with a socio-historical study of glass workers in the 19th century, and his habilitation in 1997 in Modern History and Didactics of History with a paper on the historical culture of the early labor movement in the 19th century. He was a research assistant at the professorship for history didactics ( Jochen Huhn ) at the University of Kassel from 1992 to 1997, then a university lecturer and from 2000 professor for history didactics in Frankfurt / Main.

The focus of work and research is on the extracurricular history culture, methods of historical learning and information and communication technologies in history lessons .
