Gerhard Igl (2018)

Gerhard Igl (born September 3, 1947 in Berchtesgaden ) is a German lawyer and former professor at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

Life

After studying law and the two examinations Igl 1976 doctorate at Helmut Steinberger at the University of Mannheim Dr. iur. He then worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy in Munich . From 1985 Igl was a professor at the University of Hamburg , in 1996 he moved to the University of Kiel , where he held the chair for public law and social law and was executive director of the institute for social law and health law until his retirement. From 1989 to 1990 Igl was also visiting professor at Indiana University Bloomington and the University of Bordeaux , and in 2011 at the École des hautes études en santé publique in Rennes .

Igl's research focuses primarily on health law and German and European social law.
