Gerhard Jarosch

Gerhard Jarosch (* 1968 in Linz ) is an Austrian public prosecutor, president of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) and national member for Austria at Eurojust.

Education and career

Jarosch graduated from the Jesuit high school Kollegium Aloisianum in Linz. He then studied law in Linz and Vienna. From 2000 to 2003 he was a public prosecutor in Eisenstadt. Since 2003 he has worked in the Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office, where he has also been the First Public Prosecutor since 2009. His areas of responsibility included, among other things, the prosecution of organized crime. On June 10, 2010, Jarosch was elected as the new president of the professional representation of around 330 public prosecutors.

Jarosch was also Chairman of the Central Committee for Public Prosecutors at the Federal Ministry of Justice , President of the Association of Austrian Public Prosecutors , and member of the board of the Austrian regional group of the Association Internationale de Droit Pénal and the International Association of Prosecuters .

Since September 2013, Gerhard Jarosch has been chairman of the international association of prosecutors, the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).

From 2018 to 2022 Jarosch will represent Austria as head of the Austrian office at Eurojust in The Hague .

Gerhard Jarosch was a board member of the Rotary Club Vienna in 2014/15 (according to the central reg.).

Kampusch case

In a 25-page report to all parliamentary parties on September 29, 2010, the former President of the Supreme Court, Johann Rzeszut, accused five public prosecutors, including Gerhard Jarosch, of abuse of office in the Natascha Kampusch case , thereby triggering internal investigations. The allegations were investigated by the Innsbruck public prosecutor from November 2010 to the end of 2011. The Innsbruck public prosecutor's office came to the conclusion that Rzeszut's allegations were speculation and stopped the internal investigations at the end of 2011.
